What is the Term-Long Program?

The Term-Long Program (TLP) pairs you with one of our peer writing consultants for an entire term. You and your partner make your own schedule, meeting one or two hours a week (or 8-10 hours per term). Meeting times can be as flexible or fixed as you like.

What can I work on with my TLP partner?

You can discuss your classes and assignments, get feedback on ideas or drafts, receive support in setting writing goals, and maybe even make a new friend! Some writer/consultant pairs continue working together over multiple terms.

What kinds of writers does the TLP work best for?

The program is a commitment and works best for students taking writing-rich courses or who otherwise expect to be writing on a weekly basis. Compsing seniors, sophomores working on portfolios, and multilingual writers are also great fits for the TLP.

Okay! I am ready to get involved!

Great! Stop by Libe 420D to speak with the Assistant Director & Coordinator of Multilingual Writing Support, Kristen Vogel, send an email to kvogel@carleton.edu, or apply here.

Remember:

Apply before the first week of classes each term as soon as you know you want a partner. Applying doesn’t guarantee a spot in the TLP.

Applications are closed for Spring 2025 but open for Fall 2025. Reach out the kvogel@carleton.edu with any questions!
