Carleton’s Department of Theater and Dance, the Department of Music, and Arts@Carleton are pleased to present the theatrical musical event OF PIGS AND PIANOS, created and performed by pianist Sara Davis Buechner, on Friday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Kracum Performance Hall.
Buechner, an accomplished pianist, played a well-received recital at Carleton a few years back. This time, she unites her formidable piano talents with a theatrical telling of her own personal journey that the New York Times called “courageous…wrenching…and rich with childhood fantasies, wistful longings and absurd turns that had the audience laughing along.”
OF PIGS AND PIANOS tells Buechner’s personal journey as one of the first transgender women to transition in mid-career (in the 1990s). She shares this tale of courage and integrity in the face of overwhelming personal and professional obstacles to LGBTQIA+ groups around the world, and opens that story in a delightful and absorbing new way with this unique showcase for her astounding talents.
The performance is free and open to the public.
