The Weitz Cinema will welcome a screening of the award-winning documentary OUT THERE on Monday, April 14 at 7:00 p.m.
Out There: A National Parks Story is an award-winning feature documentary. The film follows two childhood friends taking a 10,000 mile road trip through the U.S. national parks, revealing a profound tapestry of stories from the people they meet along the way. The documentary is a heartfelt journey through the human stories, stewardship, and spirit of adventure that define America’s natural wonders.
The film is the debut feature documentary from filmmaker Brendan Hall, having been crafted over the course of seven years. Brendan is the director, cinematographer, and editor of Out There alongside producer Anthony Blake, an educator who is now the assistant principal at Connecticut’s New Milford High School.
The film is also uplifted by an sweeping original music score by composer Elizabeth PW. She collaborated with musician Dylan McKinstry in writing and recording a profound soundtrack that includes a number of original folk songs crafted solely for the film.
Director Hall and Musician MKinstry will be on hand for the screening and will lead a discussion at the conclusion of the film.
This event is sponsored by American Studies; Cinema and Media Studies; Environmental Studies; Music; and Arts@Carleton.
