The Breakfast Club,” by Tim Gihring, masterfully sets a tone of remembrance, celebration, and Carleton quirkiness. To underscore this unique spirit, artist Jack Molloy arranged and photographed items and images from Carleton and Washington during the years the story captures.

Friends from the Class of 1968 on campus for their 4th reunion in 1972
Driven by a call to public service, many Carls, including Jan Harley (seated at center), found themselves working in Washington, D.C., after Carleton. Two years before an iconic photo of a 1974 breakfast on the National Mall appeared in the Washington Post, some members of the Class of 1968 returned to Northfield for their four-year reunion. Front row: Tim Gardner, Barb Windschill Sommer, Mary Beard, Jan Harley, Cay Buser. Back row: Larry Sommer, Brian Anderson, Bob Mazanec, Linda Jorgensen, Kathy Klobe, Liz Weikart.
