In her will, she donated her house as a gathering place for students. Dacie’s now houses two student residents and a house coordinator, and is still a shared gathering spot where students hang out, play games, study, bake cookies, share Sunday brunch and listen to the Knights and Knightingales practice. This house provides a sense of “home” for many.

It’s a great time for beginners to come out and learn more about the sport before the season starts in the spring — and play moves outdoors onto the Hill of Three Oaks.

In recent years the team has made it to the playoffs, and they’re excited to make it again this year! Big game coming up this weekend — go, Knights!

Gregory Smith, the Lloyd P. Johnson-Norwest Professor of English and the Liberal Arts, recently won a 2012 Minnesota Book Award for his collection of short stories, The Law of Miracles and Other Stories.

Below is a video excerpt of Smith reading from one of the stories. The Northfield News recently ran a nice story recapping the award show, which was held on April 14, 2012, at St. Paul’s Crowne-Plaza hotel. The show was taped and later broadcasted at various times on TPT-MN and the St. Paul Neighborhood Network.

A collection of student acts called “We Speak,” celebrating Black History Month and sponsored by the Black Students Alliance (BSA), is held annually on the Carleton campus to commemorate Black History Month.
