Lauren Visel, Director of Symphony Band
Carleton Symphony Band
The Carleton Symphony Band (MUSE 189) is a select group of 30–40 wind and percussion students that explore a wide range of repertoire culminating in a performance each term (three concerts in total each academic year). The instrumentation is that of a standard wind ensemble (one per part with doublings occuring as necessary due to balance). Most recent selections include: Blue Shades by Frank Ticheli, Fields of Gold by Julie Giroux, Puszta by Jan Van der Roost, and Yiddish Dances by Adam Gorb.
The Carleton Symphony Band rehearses Mondays and Wednesdays, 4–5:30pm. Each student is required to attend approximately two sectionals per term on Friday, 3:30–5pm; the sectional schedule is distributed at the beginning of each term.

Prior to auditioning, new students should fill out Carleton’s Music Interest Form to establish communication regarding all musical interests.
Interested Percussionists should fill out this brief questionnaire regarding previous percussion experience and access to practice equipment before scheduling an audition. Based on your completed form, Dr. Visel will reach out to you directly regarding what to prepare.
