Meet the Bloggers!

Colin Will ’27
Colin (he/him) is a junior Political Science major from St. Paul, Minnesota. He writes for Carleton’s comedy magazine, the Cow Print, and works for the Academic Support Center as a Writing Consultant. He also participates in Quiz Bowl, and his proudest achievement is getting 1st place in incorrect answers at a national tournament. Colin believes that winter starts when you can make a snowman and have it still be there in a week, spring starts when the Lyman Lakes geese have goslings, summer starts when the cottonwoods bloom, and fall starts when The Blast stops serving ice cream.

Henry Nieckarz ’27
Henry (he/they) is a rising junior pursuing a major in Mathematics and minoring in German. Originally from Eugene, Oregon, he loves the arb and other green areas around campus; especially in the fall. When they are not in the classroom or frolicing in the arb, they love tinkering in the MakerSpace, throwing with CHOP, and napping on the couches on the 3rd floor of the Libe. He also enjoys studying and relaxing at the nearby coffee shops in Northfield.

Abrar Hasanat ’27
Abrar (he/him) is a junior Economics and Computer Science double major from Dhaka, Bangladesh. He loves Carleton’s intercultural energy and is especially drawn to spaces where students from all backgrounds come together to solve real-world problems, or just vibe over late-night snacks. Outside of class, he’s involved in Club Rugby, FC, research, and campus admissions. His favorite places on campus are Sayles (for the energy) and the Lower Arb (for the peace). He’s a big fan of cold weather, long walks, and deep conversations about life, faith, or which country has the best mangoes. When not in class, you can usually find him designing something, planning a trip, or pretending not to be stressed about the future.

Chance Tunnissen ’26
Chance (he/him) is a rising senior from Hardwick, Minnesota, majoring in Religion and Classics. When he’s not working in admissions, he can be found working in the Office of the Chaplain or doing research with Carleton Religion faculty. He’s the vice-commodore of the Carleton Sailing Club (despite being from the only county in Minnesota that doesn’t have a lake), and he can regularly be found biking around on local trails or gravel roads. He’s always happy to help out with amateur bike repairs! He moonlights as a barista at a local coffee shop on the weekends (Hideaway) and is working on refining his latte art this summer. He also knows all the best spots in town for squirrel-watching or finding dogs to pet.

Yahaira Salgado ’27
Yahaira (she/her) is a junior with a Psychology major and Educational Studies minor. She’s from a big city, Chicago, and but has come to enjoy the small-town vibe of Northfield. When not on campus, you can find Yahaira thrifting, walking around in the arb, or attending social and cultural events with food! She can also be spotted crocheting on a bench or 3rd libe with several friends or solo! Outside of being an Admissions Fellow, Yahaira works at the print shop, is a member of the birders club, TRIO, and Project Friendship. She’s more than happy to share experiences on double-labbing and conducting animal psychology research with pigeons and rats.

Em Kutcher ’26
Emma is a junior Psychology major with a Neuroscience minor, originally from NorCal and now living in Miami, FL. Needless to say, she’s happiest when the sun is out and there’s no snow on the ground… which, in Minnesota, isn’t always the case. She stays energized and positive by diving into her comps and doing academic research in the Perception Lab. You can usually find her lifting weights at the Rec Center or sipping matcha at her favorite cafe downtown (Little Joy… and only Little Joy). As a first-gen, low-income student in TRIO and a former peer leader at the GSC, Emma is passionate about community and support systems on campus. She’s also one of the few Brazilians at Carleton. Como vai?
