Welcome to Summer!

The academic year has drawn to a close and most Carls are going home or have scattered across the globe to work, engage in research, or complete internships. While campus rests, however, a group of committed Summer Admissions Fellows will be holding down the fort and making sure prospective students have access to all of the information they need. That’s us! We’re all excited to meet you, give tours, and answer questions. Before you introduce yourselves to us virtually or on campus, though, we’d like to introduce ourselves to you. Without further ado, I’m happy to introduce you all to our 2025 Summer Admissions Fellows!
Yahnee Acklin ’25

Yahnee (she/her/hers) loves Carleton for its small-town location in Northfield. It’s the complete opposite of Philadelphia where she calls home! Yahnee’s favorite place on campus is Anderson Hall, home to a cafe, great study spaces, and many of the science departments. A fun fact about her is that she is the only Africana Studies major in her class year.
Colin Will ’27

Colin (he/him) is a junior Political Science major from St. Paul, Minnesota. He writes for Carleton’s comedy magazine, the Cow Print and works for the Academic Support Center as a Writing Consultant. He participates in Quiz Bowl, and his proudest achievement is getting 1st place in incorrect answers at a national tournament. Colin believes that winter starts when you can make a snowman and have it still be there in a week. Spring starts when the Lyman Lakes geese have goslings. He knows it’s summer when the cottonwoods bloom, and fall starts when The Blast stops serving ice cream.
Henry Nieckarz ’27

Henry (he/they) is a rising junior pursuing a major in Mathematics and minoring in German. Originally from Eugene, Oregon, he loves the Arb and other green areas around campus; especially in the fall. When they are not in the classroom or frolicking in the arb, they love tinkering in the MakerSpace, throwing frisbees with CHOP, and napping on the couches on the 3rd floor of the Libe. He also enjoys studying and relaxing at the nearby coffee shops in Northfield.
Abrar Hasanat ’27

Abrar (he/him) is a junior Economics and Computer Science double major from Dhaka, Bangladesh. He loves Carleton’s intercultural energy and is especially drawn to spaces where students from all backgrounds come together to solve real-world problems, or just vibe over late-night snacks. Outside of class, he’s involved in Club Rugby, FC, research, and campus admissions. His favorite places on campus are Sayles (for the energy) and the Lower Arb (for the peace). He’s a big fan of cold weather, long walks, and deep conversations about life, faith, or which country has the best mangoes. When not in class, you can usually find him designing something, planning a trip, or pretending not to be stressed about the future.
Yahaira Salgado ’27

Yahaira (she/her) is a rising junior with a psychology major and educational studies minor. Originally from Chicago, she works at the print shop and enjoys attending cultural and social events with food. Outside of school, you’ll find her either at the Libe, running or walking in the Arb, or crocheting in her room.
Chance Tunnissen ’26

Chance (he/him) is a Religion and Classics double-major from Hardwick, MN. When he’s not working in admissions, he can be found working in the Office of the Chaplain or doing research with Carleton Religion faculty. He’s the vice-commodore of the Carleton Sailing Club (despite being from the only county in Minnesota that doesn’t have a lake), and he can regularly be found biking around on local trails or gravel roads. He also knows all the best spots in town for squirrel-watching or finding dogs to pet.
