Summer Fellows

Abrar Hasanat ’27
Hometown: Dhaka, Bangladesh
Majors: Economics & Computer Science
Abrar (he/him/his) stays busy at Carleton! He loves spending time with friends in different spots on campus, taking arb walks, playing frisbee on the bald spot, and being a member club rugby, soccer, MOSAIC, Fellowship in Christ, and QTBIPOC. Abrar is also a world traveler; he’s been to 34 countries and counting!

Chance Tunnissen ’26
Hometown: Hardwick, MN
Major: Religion (minors in Creative Writing & Greek)
When Chance (he/him/his) is not working in admissions, he can be found working in the Office of the Chaplain or doing research with Carleton Religion faculty. He’s the vice-commodore of the Carleton Sailing Club (despite being from the only county in Minnesota that doesn’t have a lake), and he can regularly be found biking around on local trails or gravel roads. He’s always happy to help out with amateur bike repairs! He moonlights as a barista at a local coffee shop on the weekends (Hideaway) and is working on refining his latte art this summer. He also knows all the best spots in town for squirrel-watching or finding dogs to pet.

Colin Will ’27
Hometown: St. Paul, MN
Major: Political Science/International Relations
Colin (he/him/his) writes for Carleton’s comedy magazine, the Cow Print, and works for the Academic Support Center as a Writing Consultant. He also participates in Quiz Bowl, and his proudest achievement is getting 1st place in incorrect answers at a national tournament. Colin believes that winter starts when you can make a snowman and have it still be there in a week, spring starts when the Lyman Lakes geese have goslings, summer starts when the cottonwoods bloom, and fall starts when The Blast stops serving ice cream.

Yahaira Salgado ’27
Hometown: Chicago, IL
Major: Psychology (minor in Educational Studies)
Yahaira (she/her/hers) is a crochet and knitting enthusiast! She also enjoys watching nature documentaries, birding, and being a mentor in Project Friendship. Yahaira’s list of favorite things about Carleton is specific and perhaps surprising: she loves the inconsistent weather, danish scones, dacie moses, and the psychology professors.

Yahnee Acklin ’25
Hometown: Philadelphia, PA
Major: Africana Studies
Yahnee (she/her/hers) loves Carleton for its small-town location in Northfield; it’s the complete opposite of Philadelphia which she calls home! Yahnee’s favorite place on campus is Anderson Hall, home to a cafe, great study spaces, and many of the science departments. A fun fact about her is that she is the only Africana Studies major in her class year.

Henry Nieckarz ’27
Hometown: Eugene, OR
Major: Mathematics (minors in German & Statistics)
If Henry (he/they) were a place on Carleton’s campus, they would be the scenic bench next to Boliou Hall that overlooks the lakes and the start of the beloved Arb. Around campus, Henry frequents the MakerSpace, KRLX, his very own student band, board game club, CREEP, and 3rd Libe, where he is a self-proclaimed “professional napper.”

Major: History (pre-med) (minor in Religion)
Henry (He/Him/His) is heavily involved in activities around campus, including music (Henry plays the tuba!), internships, research, the Cow Print, the Carletonian, and Club Tennis. Henry is also on the executive board of Carleton’s Alumni Annual Fund. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the Arb and playing Scrabble.

Jing Jing (she/her/hers) loves Carleton for the community and academics! After studying abroad in Prague during the fall term of 2022, Jing Jing returned to campus to play on Syzygy, Carleton’s DI women’s ultimate team, go on adventures with CANOE Club, and continue her research in Dr. Meerts’ behavioral neuroscience lab.

Jocelyn Akst ’27

Major: Biology
Jocelyn (she/her/hers) loves animals! Not only does she have five pets at home, but she is involved in the pre-vet circle, the Carleton Pre-health Association, the animal colony, and in our outdoor club CANOE. Jocelyn’s favorite things about Carleton are the gorgeous campus, supportive classmates, and accessible professors. If she was a place at Carleton, she would be our 800 acre Arboretum (known as the Arb).

Jocelyn Ferguson ’25

Hometown: Minneapolis, MN
Major: Statistics
Before transferring to Carleton in fall 2021, Jocelyn (she/her/hers) spent two months working on a sustainable farm on the small island of Vieques, off of the East coast of Puerto Rico. Now that she’s on campus, you’ll find Jocelyn running on the women’s varsity track & field team and hanging out with Russ in the Math Skills Center.

Livi Peters ’26

Hometown: Rockledge, FL
Major: Physics
Livi (she/her/hers) plays for the Varsity Softball team, takes piano lessons in the Weitz, and is involved in the athletic departments at Carleton. If she was a place on campus, Livi would be the CAVE, Carleton’s student-run music venue! Livi visits the 2 thrift stores in Northfield, Clothes Closet and Thrifty Parrot at least once a term!

Nia Terry ’26
Student Diversity and Inclusion Specialist
Hometown: Los Angeles, CA
Major: Environmental Studies
Nia (she/her/hers) is involved in Carleton’s Black Student Alliance (BSA), and frequents the Office of Intercultural Life (OIL). Beyond Carleton’s campus, Nia’s pictures of her pandemic sidewalk chalk art are in the Los Angeles Public Library COVID-19 Community Archive. Her favorite thing about Carleton is that there are so many opportunities to try new things and so many people to try those new things with, she’s constantly looking for adventure!

Allison Penn ’25
Hometown: Downers Grove, IL
Major: Sociology/Anthropology (minor in French)
Allison (she/her/hers) is a senior Sociology/Anthropology (SOAN) major and French minor from Downers Grove, Illinois. After completing two study abroad programs, Allison is excited to spend one last year in Northfield. Outside of working in Admissions, Allison also works for the Alumni Relations Office, volunteers in the SOAN office, is involved in photography on campus, and really likes writing Yelp reviews. She is currently exploring how to make her own cold brew and is going to try to go to every single campus event ever during her senior year!

Annie Rogovin ’27

Major: Geology
In addition to their love of peanut butter Annie (she/they) loves Carleton! She appreciates most how kind, enthusiastic and supportive her peers and professors are. Annie is the VP of Club Resources in the Carleton Disability+ Alliance, and is involved in the GSC and baking cookies at Dacie Moses house. If they were a place at Carleton, they would be the part of the lower arb closest to the river.

Annie Wiener ’26

Major: Religion (minor in Middle East Studies)
Annie (she/her/hers) loves how friendly people are at Carleton! She finds community in Northfield in many ways including as the first year liaison for Jewish Students of Carleton. Annie also tutors students at an afterschool program in nearby Faribault! During fall term you can find her watching the shifting foliage from the Goodhue Superlounge.

Austin Flamm ’27
Hometown: Columbus, OH
Major: Russian
Austin (he/him/his) is a three club sport athlete at Carleton! He plays club soccer, club tennis, ultimate frisbee with the Karls, and is an active member of Russian Club. In fact, he decided to learn Russian last year after watching the film “Dersu Azala” the night before classes started. Austin loves being surrounded by his Carleton friends. He has found that Carleton has allowed him to create such strong relationships that let him express himself.

Bre Moore '25
Hometown: Atlanta, GA
Major: Psychology
Bre (she/her/hers) loves spending her time in the Sayles Hill Camps Center (seriously, her roommates say she lives there!). You can also find Bre dancing in Krush, playing lacrosse on the club team, walking around campus, or hanging out in Anderson (ask her how her comps is going). She’s excited to share stories from her recent Off Campus Study and the Disney College Program!

Carolina Cabanela-Leiseth ’25

Major: English
Around campus, Carolina (she/they) is involved in ballroom dancing, technical theater, social dance, and Carleton’s music community. Carolina loves their social dance community because everyone is so nice! And, if you’re looking for a book recommendation, just ask! Carolina would be thrilled to give you their thoughts on one of their most recent reads.

Diana Aragon ’27

Major: Computer Science
In her free time Diana (she/her/ella) loves watching F1, the Houston Astros, and also enjoys reading and playing guitar. She is involved in Carleton’s Questbridge chapter, Lovelace (Carleton’s women and non-binary computer science club), and FOCUS. If Diana was a place on campus, she would be the Libe, because like her, it has different levels of quietness.

Ella Kuriyama ’26

Major: Mathematics
Ella (she/her/hers) loves that Carls have a great sense of humor, because it makes learning together all the more enjoyable. She is involved in IM basketball, KRLX radio, classical music (solo and chamber), and participates in Japanese language events. Her favorite place on campus is the Lower Arb because it’s always full of life!

Felix Allen ’27
Hometown: Washington, DC
Majors: Studio Art & Geology
Felix (he/him/his) loves how many activities there are around Carleton campus! In his free time, you can find him wandering around the Arb, creating paintings and sculptures, and peoplewatching in Sayles cafe. Felix is double majoring in geology and studio art, but also enjoys art history and GWSS classes, and just came back from a political science OCS in Southeast Asia! He participates in the equestrian club, various art publications, and the student newspaper.

Harrison Redfern ’26

Major: Physics (minor in German)
Harrison (he/him/his) stays busy at Carleton! He is a captain of the club water polo team, plays both IM basketball and broomball, and participates in activities hosted by the German and physics departments. He loves the atmosphere of Carleton in that its students are focused on academics but they don’t let it get in the way of fun.

If Henry (he/him/his) was a place at Carleton, he would be our historical Goodsell Observatory! His favorite thing about Carleton is all the strange traditions, which serve as good markers of time throughout the terms. Henry is involved IM Broomball, KRLX radio, Alzheimer’s Buddies, and Model UN!

Hollin Keyser-Parker ’26
Hometown: Ashfield, MA
Major: English (minors in French & Public Policy)
When Hollin (she/her/hers) is not in class, she is involved in Nordic club team as co-president, is a Creep Run Leader, a Project Friendship Mentor, a Synchrony dancer, and a Canoe House member! Whether watching the sunrise, or skiing the trails covered in fresh snow, Hollin loves Carleton’s arboretum. She is also feels inspired and supported by the Carleton community to be successful in her challenging, yet deeply fulfilling pursuits.

Julia Dunn ’25
Hometown: Portmore, Jamaica
Major: Political Science/International Relations (minor in Educational Studies)
Julia (she/her/hers) is big on community at Carleton. When she’s not working with SEED (Students Engaging in Essential Dialogue) or collaborating with the ISL (International Student Life) Office for on-campus events, you’ll find her enjoying the natural light in the Anderson study rooms and chatting with friends over a latte from Schulze. Her fun fact? She spent most of her junior year studying abroad, from DC to Dubai to Dar es Salaam – ask her all about it!

Katelyn Harder ’26

Major: Psychology (minors in German & Cognitive Science)
Katelyn (she/her/hers) is a woodworking aficionado, and loves people of Carleton! She is the VP of 1Gen, is a DJ at KRLX, plays on Varsity Volleyball, and is an editor of Babyteeth, an eclectic creative ‘zine. If Katelyn could be a place on campus, she would be the table on the 2nd floor of the Weitz that overlooks the entrance.

Katie Davis ’26

Major: Psychology
Katie (she/her/hers) loves spending time outside in Carleton’s arboretum, during all seasons! In fact, she is a captain of the Nordic ski club, in addition to serving on the French activities council and being involved in music. If Katie were a place at Carleton, she would be Dacie Moses house, which is stocked cookie-baking ingredients 24/7!

Laurine Kim ’26
Hometown: Frisco, TX
Major: Mathematics (minor in French)
Laurine’s (she/her/hers) favorite place on campus is Carleton’s student-run music venue, the Cave. She loves seeing cool bands perform! You can also find Laurine at Club Tennis (aka Clennis), the Korean Students Association (KSA), or working at her other job in the post office. Her favorite thing about Carleton are the people and the beautiful campus (and she holds a special place in her heart for the delicious dining hall desserts).

Lejla Mehmedovic ’27

Major: Economics
If Lejla (she/her/hers) was a place at Carleton, she would be the bald spot, because she loves the sun! She also loves running 5k’s and 10k’s. You can find her baking cookies in Dacie Moses house, working with the Food Recovery Network, and being involved in the Turkish language club, Carleton’s Questbridge chapter, and TRIO. Lejla loves the amount of opportunities available to students at Carleton!

Max Fischer ’27
Hometown: Chicago, IL
Major: Political Science/International Relations
Max (he/him/his) loves the Carleton Arboretum, but if he were a place at Carleton, he would be the Libe. Not only is Max a tour guide, but he is also student ambassador in the Alumni Relations office, a KRLX DJ, and a member of CAST (College Admissions Starts Today). At home, he has 3 cats and a dog!

Quinn Lee-O'Halloran ’25
Hometown: Minnetonka, MN
Major: American Studies (minor in Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies)
Quinn (she/her/hers) has deep love of the Carleton community; she says she is so lucky to be surrounded by such brilliant and kind people. Quinn is an active member of student-run radio station KRLX, the orchestra, equestrian club, and the music department! Following her love of music and radio, her favorite place on campus is the record library. And finally, a fun fact about Quinn is that her family helped to found the Minneapolis St. Patrick’s Day Parade!

Robert Healy ’25

Robert (he/him/his) is a Club Volleyball athlete who loves spending time in Sayles, our main student center and cafe for the noisy and studious vibe there. When he’s not on the court or at the cafe, Robert is probably working on his campus project (a continuation of his A&I) or working with our International Student Life division.

Ronnie Ross ’26

Major: Biology
Ronnie (they/he) is a commodore of the Carleton Sailing Club, a member of the Carleton Equestrian Team, and loves going on trips with the outdoor club CANOE! Their favorite thing about Carleton is simply the exceptionally good vibes. If they were a place at Carleton, they would be the classroom on 4th Leighton that has skylights!

Shira Dubin ’25
Hometown: Tucson, AZ
Major: Biology (minor in Philosophy)
When Shira (she/her/hers) is not playing ultimate frisbee with Syzygy, one of Carleton’s D1 teams, you can find her researching disease ecology, playing club soccer, doing social dance, and Nordic skiing in the arboretum! Shira likes the personal connections with professors and sense of community in classes at Carleton. A fun fact about her is that her favorite snack combo is peanut butter and carrots.

Stella Pinto ’26
Hometown: Hanover, NH
Major: Geology (minor in Public Policy)
Stella (she/her/hers) is a project friendship mentor, part of the College Friend program, and works in the post office! She plays on Nova, one of Carleton’s club ultimate frisbee teams. She loves how friendly and caring everyone here is, and also enjoys seeing all the rabbits in the bushes around campus. If Stella was a place on Carleton’s campus, she would be the bench in the arb overlooking Bell field.

Will Hassell ’25
Hometown: Hillsboro, NC
Major: English (minors in Creative Writing and Educational Studies)
Will’s (he/him/his) favorite thing about Carleton is the amount of open space that the campus has, as it is a good reprieve from stress. He has seen the movie The Princess Bride at least 20 times, and can recite large portions of it! Outside of the classroom, Will is a member of CHOP, one of Carleton’s D3 ultimate frisbee teams, and is a member of disc golf club and board game club.
