Her current research explores memory in relation to postsocialism in the CEE region, focusing on postsocialist nostalgia and Mark Fisher’s concept of haunting.

Iveta has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and two books. Her co-edited book (with Jiřina Šiklová), Czech Feminisms: Perspectives on Gender in East Central Europe (Indiana University Press, 2016) won the Heldt prize for the best book in Slavic/Eastern European/Eurasian Women’s and Gender Studies. Her monograph, The New Woman and the Empire (OSUP, 2005), examined the intersections of gender and colonial issues in the works of several British New Women writers.

In 2008, Iveta was an invited panelist by Vaclav Havel for a discussion with and about feminist psychoanalyst and philosopher Julia Kristeva at the Dagmar and Vaclav Havel Vize Award ceremony. In 2015, she was a Research Fellow at Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee Theatre Research Institute, Ohio State University. In 2018-2019, she received Carleton’s Mellon Public Works Initiative Grants for her oral history project “Panel Story,” which focused on post-socialist memory practices in the Czech Republic.
