LTC Targeted Audience Lunch - When Things Get Messy: Faculty Reflections on Applied ACE Courses

Tue, November 11, 2025 • 11:45am - 1:00pm (1h 15m) • AGH Meeting Room

Participants are invited to listen, share, and reflect on common challenges in teaching and supporting applied ACE courses at Carleton. Panelists will share examples from their own teaching experiences, and in small groups, we will explore the following questions together:

  • How do we help students, and ourselves, to make meaning from the unexpected?
  • What have we learned, and what have we changed in the structure, design, or preparation for teaching ACE courses after experiencing particular challenges
  • In what ways can the lived complexities of working with community partners and community members activate the theory of ethical community engagement?

Anita Chikkatur, Professor of Educational Studies
Amy Csizmar Dalal, Professor of Computer Science
Andrea Mazzariello,  Associate Professor of Music
Andy Poppick, Associate Professor of Statistics
Emily Seru, Associate Director for Academic Civic Engagement and Scholarship
